Wedding Tips: Number Your Wedding RSVP Cards

While wedding planning, an exciting - or maybe stressful - part of the process is getting the guest list together. Of course, there’s the initial creation of the list of who you want to send an invitation to (we love this part of the process), but you also have to create the final guest list that includes everyone who RSVP’d. Over the years, we have seen this part of the process become even more stressful for our couples who decide to send out printed RSVP cards as part of their invitation suite because of this simple problem: some of their guests forget to write their names on their RSVP! Now the couple has to attempt a Scooby-Doo-like mystery solving in order to maybe figure out who is or is not planning to attend their wedding. Fortunately, there are some ways you can avoid this particular headache when getting ready for your big day.

Number your RSVP cards: The most simple way to make sure you know who your responses are coming from is to assign numbers to each card along with a key that matches each number to a guest. Now when you receive an RSVP that doesn’t have a name (or one that doesn’t have a legible name, maybe), you can still figure out exactly which guest it belongs to. Of course, it could seem odd or confusing for your guests to see numbers on their cards, so that leads us to our second piece of advice.

Use invisible ink: One of our favorite ways to avoid confusion for your now-numbered guests is to buy a cheap invisible ink pen to write the numbers with. This way, you can simply shine the blacklight on the card to see which guest it belonged to. This will keep your guests from wondering if you ranked them somehow while keeping you organized!
