The 4 cent "Giuseppe Garibaldi" postage stamp was issued in 1960. The vintage postage stamp was issued in honor of an Italian patriot, Giuseppe Garibaldi. Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice, Italy. He dedicated his life to liberating his country from Austrian control. In 1842, he led the “Italian Legion” in the Uruguayan Civil War. Garibaldi later participated in the Wars for Italian Independence and served in the Italian parliament.
